It's been a tough slog for the Campaign for Real Ale over the past 45 years to keep good beer in the public domain. I mean real beer not just what you'd presume was beer.
"With all these new beer styles and new drinking establishments opening up, we don't know where we stand any more, we don't know Cask from Keg, Pub from Pour House, Bottle Shop from Off Licence. Technology has moved on so much for us also that our pen and pads we used to chronicle our experiences of pubs and beers in are now no longer needed. Apparently "There's an app for that". I'm sure my phone is still attached by a wire to the wall, I don't know how telling it what beers I have had is going to help any". John Smith, spokesperson for CAMRA said.
"And when did socks and sandals stop being fashionable, when you're out on Blackpool beach it stops the sand getting between your toes." He added.
CAMRA, long known for the fight to save good beer from bland generic brands has paid off, but they are fighting technology in both a social and beer world, with an ageing membership they have just decided instead of hard work to just meet some friends and use their money off vouchers to have a quiet pint together.
Of course this isn't all true... But it is April Fools Day after all.
